Loukoum w Chios’ Mastiha ‘MastihaShop’ A traditional jelly-like delight called “loukoumi” made from starch and sugar is a confectionary very popular amongst people of all ages not only in Greece but in the whole Mediterranean region.
This old recipe developed from the pastry makers of Chios island combines loukoumi with the unique Chios mastiha a spice widely known for its aroma but also for its beneficial health effects. Traditionally is served with coffee or tea or with a glass of cold water as a welcome treat in Greek households.
