Sage is known around the world with different names. The ancient Greeks used it for snake bites and as a general tonic for mind and body. Dioscurides recommended it for bleeding, irregular menstrual period, etc. The Romans called the “holy plant” and doctors of Salerno school believed that “whoever has in his Sage is not afraid of death.”
Use:
In the Kitchen: Gives flavor and aroma in sauces and meats.
As infusion: 20 grams of leaves and flowers in a liter of boiling water. Allow 10 minutes. Drink maximum 3 cups a day.
Overdose of sage can cause light intoxication, palpitations or headache. It is forbidden for breastfeeding women because their milk will become bitter.
