Activated Almonds
What is Activation?
Did you know that nuts are sleeping…?
They’re life is in dormancy, just waiting for the right conditions to awaken and grow.
Nuts, are nutritional powerhouses but in order to maximize their potential, our nuts are long soaked in purified water with natural sea salt for up to 24 hours, in order to simulate their sprouting conditions. By activating we’ve removed a significant part of the toxins such as the phytic acid and aflatoxins.
The reason nuts are soaked in salty water is because salt awakens the beneficial enzymes (by neutralizing the enzyme inhibitors that all seeds naturally contain as defense mechanisms). In other words, germination that begins with soaking promotes the growth of healthy enzymes vital for healthy digestion and it increases the the nutritional content of Vitamins such as Vitamin A, C and, in particular B Vitamins. Rawsophy’s almonds, are very slowly drying at a temperature below 45C, for keeping all nutrients intact.
In conclusion, what differentiates our product, is the fact that an activated almond is “alive”, as its natural nutritional value has been maximized throughout the process, while the taste and texture is deliciously crunch, similar to a good roasted almond!
