The dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), also known as “lion’s tooth” is a perennial herb and is known to many as mountain’s chicory. It is perennial with long toothed leaves and yellow flowers. It reaches a height until 30cm. The Dandelion needs moisture to develop, and for this reason there is in abundance in the Greek mountains and meadows, on the edges of roads, in the shadows of rocks etc.
The genus name comes from the Greek taraxos for “disorder”—and akos for “remedy.”
